The home is the first place where we learn to live.

Before children learn history or mathematics, they are already learning something else: how to eat, how to care for others, how to be grateful, how to save, how to appreciate beauty, and how to find joy in everyday life.

I won my first drawing contest when I was seven years old, and I have never stopped drawing since. As a child, the best gift I could receive was a notebook and colored pencils. I wrote stories and spent hours inventing characters inspired by the comics of Mortadelo y Filemón. I loved searching for the tiny details hidden in the illustrations—a ladybug, a little spider, a mouse tucked away in a corner.

Later, I discovered another passion: mathematics. Perhaps that is why I became an architect. For more than twenty years, I have worked as a designer, researcher, and university professor, exploring how our homes and schools shape our health, wellbeing, relationships, and everyday lives.

Then my daughter arrived.

And with her, a question:

What are the most important things a child can learn?

About health, finances, spirituality…

The answer became my children's stories.
